Cost of mold remediation

I love your blog! Just curious how much mold abatement costs.

LM says: Thanks you so much for the love :-)
Mold abatement can range widely in pricing. This is basically due to two factors: the severity of the mold problem and the severity in the pricing of the company you hire! I have dealt with mold situations that require a remediator twice. These have been moderate severity and I have paid about $1,500 in one occasion and less than that on the second.

I suppose a severe mold situation can be upwards of $2,000 all the way to $10,000 and more if you have both a bad mold problem and an expensive company. The mold problems that I have always encountered have been in basements but I have heard of “whole house” mold situations.

Price can also vary depending on what part of the country you are.

The best way to find a company that is priced right is to talk to other investors and then get several quotes. My rule of thumb is to avoid companies with big signs, fancy letterhead/brochures or a fleet of company cars. All that stuff is overhead and guess who pays for it?...you. Find someone that is certified/licensed if required, know what they are doing with plenty of experience but works out of their house and gets business by referrals mostly. Be wary of any mold company that uses the "fear" factor as a sales tactic.

Hope that helps.
